ESA AppCamp 2013

Earlier on this year I got selected as one of twenty participants to participate in the European space agency’s app camp. The goal of the ESA app camp is for mobile developers to create apps for normal people using the satellite data available from ESA.

I attended the app camp in June and it was absolutely amazing I learned a lot about the European space agency but I also learned lots from the very talented mobile developers that were also there.

The goal of the camp is to form an international team of four and at the end of the camp produce an app. As part of the camp I was placed in the “Observe and Learn” team, a team focused on creating an educational android app. The app we developed is called LifeRama.

The demonstration version of the application is also available now.

Unfortunately our team never won but put that down to the app idea being too awesome for them to comprehend. However the experience of being there was much better than the prize that was on offer.

I would highly recommend any mobile developer to sign up for next year’s event.

Paddler Log Update – Editing and Miles

I Managed to find some time to update paddler log. I haven’t updated it in a while and I had been busy working on Stormgate mobile in my free time but I decided to take a break from it and work on paddlers log, which is gaining in popularity.

Android app on Google Play

The feedback system has been very useful and I appreciate greatly the messages you submit. I have added your most requested features imperial units and editing (sorry that should I have been in from the start but it is now).

Whats new

  • Metric and imperial measurements now supported
  • App can now be moved to SD card
  •  Delete more visible
  •  Graphical enchantments
  •  Performance optimization
  •  Fixed crash issues

As I’m usually always busy, once I manage to find some free time I will able adding a lot more useful exciting features. Here are just some of the new features planned.

  • Lots of statistic graphs
  • More statistics
  • Support for other destination locations such as lakes and the seaside
  • Online backup system – access all your data on the paddlerslog website
  • Maps
  • Calendar view

PaddlerLog and Facebook

PaddlerLog has now been updated so you can share your kayaking adventures with your friends on Facebook.

When you enter a new trip you will now have the ability to share it on Facebook. This new menu will have other options to post to other social networks soon  such as Twitter.

You can also now post feedback via the about about screen.

If you have not got it you can get it here .

Paddler Log Android App

I created this application a while ago as something that I would personally find useful and I decided to release it on the android market to see if any one else might find it helpfull. From the usage figures people appeared to have found it useful and the amount of users has been increasing pretty much at a constant pace . So I decided to finally update it and I spent alot of time making an interface thats alot more cleaner and quicker to use than the original.

This app will allow you to keep to track of every river trip you go on , as well as allowing you to keep information of the rivers you have been on.
It’s very quick and easy to use  ,it is designed it to be effortless .
It will also allow you to view a summary of your kayaking adventures displaying information such as total distance paddled etc.

Some Future Plans for this

  • Ability to post you trips to  Facebook ( It’s already in but disabled as it need some more work and polish)
  • Ability for users to post feedback ( Such as new feature requests) in the about screen
  • More information displayed in the summary screen.

ZodoLex Updated

Just released a huge update for ZodoLex , so make sure to try out the new version.

  • Added Walls , lots of new exciting levels involving this.
  • Added new level system with 20 Levels
  • Scores now save , which I should have done at the start oops.
  • Fixed input to be more responsive.
Also I will try my best to update fortnightly with new levels. Make sure to set those highscores as a online scoreboard will be coming soon.

StormGate Coming To Android

I have started work on porting StormGate over to android. Here is a little peak of the progress so far. The android version will allow me much more freedom over the Xbox version. So once it is finished I can easily update it regularly , without the hassle of waiting weeks for an update to go through review.

New Features

  • Survival Mode ( A randomly Generated map , in which you try to hold of enemies for as long as possible)
  • Online ScoreBoards
  • Town Building overhaul (I’m planning this to be a huge part of the gameplay)
  • New Turrets
  • New Enemies
  • New Town Buildings
  • New Spells
  • Improved Interface (It will be a lot quicker to get things done , since it will be touch screen)
